Practice History….Coming Soon

Since 1986, our cumulative efforts to support a state-of-the art, biologically orientated practice has given us the privilege to serve our patient’s needs. More information about our history coming soon.

Our practice is a Full Time Endodontic Practice with a special interest in Dental Anesthesiology.  Endodontics is one of the recognized American Dental Association’s dental specialties.  To practice as an ADA recognized specialist, the practitioner must be a US licensed general dentist (DDS or DMD degree) and has also completed at least a two to three year Endodontic residency at an approved and recognized ADA specialty program.  The practicing Endodontic specialist is committed to the scope and guidelines of a dental specialty practice and also to the maintenance of continuing educational requirements as defined by the American Association of Endodontists bylines and the State of Florida.

As a sedation-anesthesia dental practice, the practicing dentist must complete a State of Florida approved training program in conscious sedation.  This training includes both classwork studies and actual participation in sedation-anesthesia cases overseen by licensed dental or medical anesthesia providers.  Completion of an approved class in Advanced Cardiac Life Support is also required. Once the certificate of training is completed, the office facility must be designed and specially equipped to meet the State of Florida anesthesia requirements. Finally, the dentist must provide IV sedation to a patient and perform a dental procedure on the patient in front of a State of Florida dental examiner/anesthesiologist in the dentist’s own facility.  Oral examination questions of the Doctor and Staff are asked, and a complete inspection of the facility,  resuscitation drugs and equipment used by the practicing dentist are performed by the examiner as part of this exam. After completion of all these requirements, a permit is issued to the dentist to practice anesthesia in the State of Florida.  Regular Staff training, continuation of the Doctor’s anesthesia and emergency education requirements, and completion of the Advanced Cardiac Life Support class must be maintained as per the State of Florida dentist-anesthesia provider requirements.

Recent rule changes in the Florida Dental Practice Act has allowed MD/DO Anesthesiologists, Dentist Anesthesiologists and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to provide both moderate and  deep sedation/general anesthesia for the patients of permit granted Florida licensed dentists and approved facilities. The providing MD/DO Anesthesiologist must possess an active Florida medical license, and a Dentist Anesthesiologist or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon must possess an active Florida dental license and a General Anesthesia Permit.  The permitted dentist-operator-facility owner must be also possess an active Florida dental license and a Florida Conscious Sedation or General Anesthesia permit. The facility providing the treatment must be inspected and approved by a Florida Board of Dentistry consultant to the level of care provided, either a Conscious Sedation or General Anesthesia permit status.

Dr. Russin possesses an active Florida dental license (DN10828) and a conscious sedation permit.  All anesthesiologists used in adjunctive (“two man” treatment) have a General Anesthesia permit or their MD/DO equivalent. All  Doctors have active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.  Any LPN’s or RN’s used in assistance with anesthesia are also licensed with their respective Florida Board of Nursing.  All practitioners possess current liability insurance as required by Florida State Law.
